Who are you to argue with Pedro?Īs a side-scroller style shoot-em up, the controls are extremely familiar and easy to grasp. He wants you to go on a path of mayhem, destruction and violence against bad people. The premise is simple your friend, Pedro, is a sentient, imaginary Banana. My Friend Pedro is a shoot em up game developed by DeadToast Entertainment and published by Devolver Digital. I’ll cut to the chase it really, really is. Surely the entire game isn’t this awesome? These were curated videos provided by developers to showcase the best parts of the game. I tempered my initial excitement from November 2017. Each moment was beautifully exampled in slow motion, with fluid gun control, evasion and execution of multiple targets whilst performing tumbles, back flips and matrix levels of parkour. The videos, showcased throughout this review, showed an exciting amount of fluidity and control.

I give it a 7/10 mostly because it seems like a game other people would enjoy more than me, it’s affordable, and although short, I imagine it has significant replayability as trick shots are mastered and higher scores are chased.In November 2017 whilst perusing Imgur, I stumbled upon a series of short video showcasing a video game work in progress.

Maybe I should invest in a pro controller, or just give the game more time, but ultimately, it’s for sale on eBay. I was able to tolerate inadvertently crawling in Zelda at times, but this game is no Zelda. Admittedly, I only played this game for an hour, cruising through the first ten levels with C’s, but the game controls to aim were imprecise and my joycon stick is easily pushed in, which inadvertently and repeatedly put the game in slow motion. I found the most effective way to dodge bullets was the spin move, but it wasn’t conducive to a good style points score, which led to either death or, most often, a “C” on my report card. It made me miss SSX Tricky on PS2, a game where tricks in the air were much more intuitive and enjoyable. Break up the high octane running and gunning a bit with dynamic sequences like a thrilling motorcycle chase or slow it all down and take a moment to think through a series of clever (and possibly fatal) physics-based puzzles. Twist and turn through the air while aiming both hands at priority threats or line up a perfect ricochet to drop an unsuspecting gangster from behind.
